Isle Of Wight NHS Trust

PathEKS Portal

This site was provided to the Isle of Wight NHS Trust for appropriate staff to access Lateral Flow Testing (LFT) during the COVID-19 Pandemic, and whilst restrictions were in force

** IMPORTANT UPDATED INFORMATION**

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all staff for their commitment and dedication in protecting themselves and others with twice weekly LFT testing and reporting via our
PATHEK system

Following Government announcement, the arrangements for accessing LFT has changed and there will be no further deliveries of LFT kits to organisations for distribution to staff via Occupational Health Isle of Wight or this PathEKS service

Updated reviews dated the 20th May 2022, effective from the 23rd May 2022 are as follows

The key changes are:

Mask wearing:
People should continue to wear a Type IIR FRSM mask at all times when working in patient facing areas e.g. wards, clinics and patient homes.

People are no longer required to wear masks in non-patient facing areas, such as offices and training venues, but may wish to do so based on their own preferences and needs.

People should continue to wear a mask when entering the hospital and walking through it to reach their final location.

People should continue to wear masks in areas where there is contact with patients and/or the general public, this includes our restaurant, café and shop, but can be removed once seated.

Patient contacts of COVID-19 positive cases:
A positive patient contact no longer requires isolation or additional testing but do monitor for symptoms in the 7 days following exposure.

Should symptoms develop, then send for a PCR test and take LFT whilst awaiting PCR result.

If the patient is discharged to another care setting within 7 days of the exposure, ensure the receiving organisation is informed
Introduction of lateral flow testing (LFT/LFD) to the wards

Lateral flow tests will be distributed from today, Monday 23 May 2022, to relevant ward areas. Please refer to our Patient testing and isolation guidance.

Initially, inpatient areas will be provided with boxes of the Innova 25s.

Follow our Standard Operational Procedure for patient lateral flow test use and record the results on the COVID-19 Patient lateral flow test result record sheet

For any patient with a positive LFT, or with suspected COVID-19 symptoms, send a green throat + nose swab to the Microbiology lab for PCR confirmation.

Further requests (from wards) for LFTs should be sent to iownt.ppe@nhs.net. This inbox is manned by our Supply Chain Team.

If you have any queries in relation to these changes, please contact the Infection Prevention and Control Team

As restrictions are lifted, it is important we all continue to adhere to the following precautions:

Mask wearing, where applicable
Hand hygiene
No COVID-19 or other respiratory symptoms

In addition to the above, NHS staff currently have the ability to order testing kits through the universal offer from the gov.uk website. This is to standardise the process at a national level, and make the best use of supplies.

Again thank you for all your continuing efforts to protect yourself and others and the importance of carrying on testing using the Gov.uk website
